I
became familiar with the work of Tyler Deeb just a few months ago, and I was
blown away by the beauty and consistency of his visual approach. To say it’s
consistent isn’t to imply that it all looks the same, though. A look through
Tyler’s portfolio shows that he can bounce from one look to another with complete
confidence and control—a brilliant dance of concept and experimentation.
Tyler’s letterpress work is second to none, and I think my favorite of his is the A Child Is Born CD packaging. It has everything—beautifully handled typography, clean and precisely detailed illustrative graphics and decorative elements, and metallic inks, all letterpressed like there’s no tomorrow. Damn.
