I especially like this piece because I think the colors and forms are very refined. Zim and Zou manage to do detailed and meticulous work in 3D and this composition is visually impeccable. And I found the design concept of this work very fun—showing culinary items drawn from a specific chef’s menu at the gastronomic restaurant Au Bon Gîte, but made with paper. It’s very tasty!
I think Zim and Zou are part of a larger tendency initiated by Yulia Brodskaya, which I’m also involved in, and which I hope matures into what I would like to call “design with volume.” It’s probably the wish to get away from the cold computer interface that pushes them—and me—to use one’s hands in doing design work.
