Archie Ferguson

Archie Ferguson grew up in the banal suburban sprawl of New Jersey. He received his BFA in Graphic Design from the School of Visual Arts in 1985. He got his start as book jacket/cover designer in 1987 at Random House, Inc. at the Times Books imprint. In 1991 he became a designer at the hallowed imprint of Alfred A. Knopf, in 1999 he was made art director of Pantheon and Schocken Books. He left Random House to be the art director of the Harper imprint at HarperCollins in 2007 until 2012. Archie has since relocated from NYC to Portland, Oregon and is now currently nurturing a fledgling design firm. His designs have graced thousands of books and are littered throughout AIGA, 50 Covers/50 Books archives, as well as other archives, design publications, exhibitions and the ether in general.
