Born in Havana, Cuba, Deroy is a founding partner and creative director at Hyperakt
, a Brooklyn design studio that helps change-makers tell their stories. Hyperakt works with organizations that focus on meaningful social issues and with businesses that empower through entrepreneurship and technology.
Deroy’s role at Hyperakt is to provide creative and visionary leadership and mentorship for the Hyperaktivisits. With more than a decade of experience running a studio and working on brand identities, website interfaces and data visualizations, Deroy is a design entrepreneur at heart. He loves inventing products and experiences such as The Champions Ring

Deroy taught for four years at Parsons The New School for Design and has spoken at several art schools. He has given talks for AIGA, UNHCR and the Type Directors Club. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Time, Forbes and The Guardian, among other publications. He has lived in five countries, loves to travel and lives with his wife Jenna and his son Luco in Brooklyn. He is a die-hard FC Barcelona fan.
