From “Fictitious Dishes” by Dinah Fried

This is a photograph from a series of five “fictitious dishes” depicting meals from the novels The Catcher in the Rye, Oliver Twist, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Moby-Dick.

In the photograph above, a scene from J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye is shown in which main character Holden Caulfield stops at a drugstore and orders a cheese sandwich and a malted after a very bad date.
