The Designer Fund

The Designer Fund is an angel fund based in San Francisco that invests in design founders through community, mentorship and funding. Their mission is to invest in designers who create businesses with positive social impact.

It’s no surprise that businesses today are demanding more and more design leadership at the top. Design has tangible impact! We’re seeing a maturing of our discipline that leverages the full range of skills—from product definition to interaction design, visual design, social change and more.

Yet we’re still not seeing enough design CEOs, especially in the technology space. Is this because of a lack of role models? Inadequate education and training? Lack of awareness?

The Designer Fund works hard to address all these factors through their book, events, direct mentorship and funding. They’ve got a great system that seems to be cranking out some high quality companies and inspiring designers to take control of their own destiny.

Approximately $1 billion–plus worth of value has been created by designer co-founded startups
