He Died with His Eyes Open

Growing up, I remember watching Hitchcock films with my dad and—when I had them—reading “Goosebumps” from R.L. Stine. It’s safe to say I’ve always been drawn to dark themes and subject matter. This series of covers from Christopher King had me creepily grinning ear to ear.

Chris is the art director over at Melville House, and I had the pleasure of meeting him through mutual friends earlier this year. His smart and beautifully crafted illustrations for Derek Raymond’s “Factory Series” are my personal favorites among his work.

Fun fact: English author “Derek Raymond” was only a pen name. His real name was Robert William Arthur Cook, and he is known for revolutionizing British noir.
