Still from Windowsill

Thanks to gateway drugs like Two Dots and Threes, I’ve become increasingly attuned to the growing world of casual, design-centric games. One node in the indie gaming scene that has particularly inspired me is Vectorpark, a.k.a. Patrick Smith. In a world where Candy Crush aesthetics have dominated, Vectorpark is a breath of fresh air.

Smith designs and develops all his own games, which also double as exploratory toys. Windowsill, an escape-the-room game for web and mobile, is my personal favorite. Every corner of his work exudes delight, from the tasteful art direction down to the puzzling progression. I’m really looking forward to his next app, Metamorphabet.
